Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Susan Mac Nicol (“I”, “me”, “my”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit authororbit.co.uk (the “Site”). It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who I am
I am Susan Mac Nicol, the creator of AuthorOrbit and the data controller for this Site. You can contact me about any privacy matter at contact@authororbit.co.uk.
2. What personal data I collect
The Site doesn’t currently have a contact form or newsletter sign-up. The only personal data I collect is whatever you choose to send me directly — for example, if you email contact@authororbit.co.uk with a question or support request, I’ll have your email address and whatever you’ve written to me.
I don’t use the Site to run advertising or collect payment details, and the Site doesn’t use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
3. How I use your data
I use any data you send me only for the purpose you gave it to me — to reply to the enquiry or support request you emailed. I don’t sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4. Legal basis for processing
I process your data on the basis of legitimate interest — responding to enquiries you’ve chosen to send me.
5. How long I keep your data
I keep email enquiries for as long as necessary to respond to you, and will delete them sooner if you ask me to.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: request access to the personal data I hold about you; request that I correct or delete it; and object to or restrict how I use it. To exercise any of these rights, contact me at contact@authororbit.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your data has been mishandled.
7. Cookies
This Site’s use of cookies is covered separately in our Cookie Policy.
8. The AuthorOrbit app
This policy covers the authororbit.co.uk website. The AuthorOrbit software itself runs entirely on your own computer, with no cloud account, and doesn’t send your data anywhere — except where you choose to use an optional AI feature with your own API key, which is covered separately in our AI Transparency Statement.
9. Children’s privacy
This Site is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Site or to data protection law. The updated version will be posted here with a revised “last updated” date.
11. Contact
For any questions about this policy or your personal data, please contact me at contact@authororbit.co.uk.
